Part 4 Please Explain - Pauline Hanson's Please Explain 'A 'woke' Christmas' - Episode 8

You better watch out for a 'woke' Christmas in this week's episode of "Please Explain".

"Meanwhile, it's beginning to look a lot like communism in this week's episode of our cartoon series "Please Explain", as Christmas becomes politically incorrect... leading nicely into how 'Booster Jabs' could be the last straw... Bringing back vaccine choice with Australia's own COVAX-19... Malcolm Roberts, Mark Latham and Rod Roberts look back at 2021...  And Pauline addresses Aussies rallying for freedom. "

Fruits of first Plenary Council Assembly Published - Australian Catholics Bishop Conference - Plenary Council 2020-2023

Plenary Council members have this week begun their reflections on the document and its proposals, and the wider Catholic community can now commence its own prayer and discernment on the report.

Archbishop Costelloe suggested one way that could happen is through the local consultation phase of the Synod of Bishops, which is considering how the Church is “journeying together” to announce the Gospel.

“The complementary nature of the Plenary Council and this Synod of Bishops process is quite clear, and I encourage people to be as engaged with the Synod as they have been in the Plenary Council,” he said.

Archbishop Costelloe asked the People of God to continue to keep the Plenary Council in their prayers – as they have done for the past four years or more.

“We are very mindful of all those who have trusted us to carry their hopes and dreams with us,” he said.

“I am confident that we will continue to walk together as we share our experience of the first assembly and as we reflect together on the ever present and pressing question: what do you think God is asking of us in Australia at this time?”

My interest in Council Election Results around New South Wales

Interested Council Election results:

Why do I have an interest? Simply Blacktown City Council is where I have lived for 29 years of my life and  got to know former Councilors and current ones.

With Penrith City Council, Sue day former co-advocate for Western Sydney Public Transport Users I have  an ineterest in, as she ran for Council 3-4 times has been persistant and made it, increasing her votes each time.

Shoalhaven City Council - it is where I live and will live for the rest of my life. Ineterest in advocacy raises interest in politics and the people that reperesent the people. People do not realise how much presssure our representatives have in all forms of government, being in the lime light.

Blacktown City Council Election:

2016 Party Result: Labor 10Liberal 5

2021 Party Result: Labor 10Independent 5

Here Stephen Bali doesn't recontest his Ward 4 seat as he is the State Member of Blacktown. Liberal Party didn't endorse any of the candidates as in previous years. Jes Diaz is re-elected as an independent.  Can't see his son evene running for Council this time. PeterCamileri moves from Ward 5 as an endorsed Liberal in 2016 to an independent in Ward 4. Labor, Carol Israel, Labor Party elected 2nd term  in Ward 4 and is te leader of her tocket as she is re-elected. Mayor Tony Bleasedale, Labor Party sweeps in Ward 5 elected and  BRad Bunting is re-elected quite easily in wsame ward. Allan Green is back into Council as a Independent In Ward 3 with Labor Party Councilors Susai Benjamin and Cathy Collins.

Basically, we have  Labor hold 10 out 15 Council seats and the 5 Liberal Council seats became Liberal - mot much of a change.

Penrith City Council results

2016 Party Result: Liberal 5Labor 7Independents 3

2021 Party Result: Liberal 6Labor 5Independents 4

*Sue Day has smashed the election in  The South Ward. A ward where there is 2 Liberals, 2 Independents and 1 Labor Councilors. And it appears she might have picked up a seat from Labor.

It seems that Independents will be very crucial to electing a Mayor and Deputy Mayor and maybe Sue Day may even have  her chance at being elected as Mayor.

* Former Western Sydney co-advocate for public transport

Shoalhaven City Council results

2016 Party Result:

Shoalhaven Independents 5, Country Labor Party 1, Green 4,  Independents 3

2021 Party Result:

Shoalhaven Independents 4, Greens 4, Labor Party 2  Undecided 3

(Includes: Green Elected Maror)

Interested in Ward 2, where there are new candidates running in the Ward, two of them has been elected John Kotlash (Labor Party) and Evan Christen from the Greens. The next candidate that could be elected is Mitchell Pakes from the Shoalhaven Independents retaining his seat or newly elected Paul Ell Independent. Former Federal Member Fiona Gash, did not stand for Council in Ward 2 so that leaves it open - who gets her seat?

Greens have retained their numbers on Council even though former Ward 1 Councilor Nina Digiglio left the Greens and only stood as a candidate for Mayor. Labor Party have increased their numbers with a possibility on a further seat in Ward 1,  with Shoalhaven Independents possibly losing one seat it could look like Shoalhaven Independents 4, Labor Party 3, Greens 3, Independent 1.

Further update 22/12/21: the results are as follows:

Shoalhaven Independents Group 4,Greens 4 including the Mayor, Labor 3Independents 2

So, from the 2016 Council Election results, we can see that Shoalhaven Independents have a reduced seat on council by 1 to 4 Councilors, Labor Party have increased their seats on Council by 2 to 3 Councillors, Greens have maintained their seats on Council to 4 members and finally, Independents have lost 1 seat down to 2 seats on Council. Thus the pendulum swings here. So it is going to be interesting how deals will be made for the Deputy Mayor and how Council passes motions as a team in Council, unless the Greens and Shoalhaven Independents work together on motions, it won't be so much of a roller coaster. This is for the next three years and we will see how this works out.

Slow Down, Kids Around these School Holidays  - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

21 December 2021

Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation and Shoalhaven City Council join forces again, raising awareness to reduce child pedestrian injuries and fatalities across the  City.

Motorists will again notice the ‘Holiday Time; Slow Down, Kids Around’ signs  across the city, at beaches, parks and other busy recreational locations, urging people to slow down and take extra care on our roads during the holiday period.

Shoalhaven City Council Director, Paul Keech said with COVID restrictions eased, Shoalhaven will have more families visiting in the school holiday periods, and the number of kids using local roads and paths will increase significantly.

“With more kids around this holiday season, it is important for all motorists to stay aware and vigilant, as children can react impulsively and forget about road safety.

“That is why the ‘Holiday Time, Slow Down, Kids Around ‘campaign is so important. It is a timely reminder about the importance of road safety, for residents and visitors and the need to be acutely aware of the increase in pedestrian activity. Drivers, parents and carers need to recognise the potential danger in busy holiday spots and take extra precautions to ensure our kids are kept safe,” Mr Keech said.

Michelle and David McLaughlin founded Little Blue Dinosaur in honour of their son Tom. They now channel their energy into making school holidays safer for children.

"We lost our precious son, Tom in the blink of an eye. We do not want this to happen to anyone else. That is why the 'Holiday Time, Slow Down, Kids Around' message is so important," Ms McLaughlin said.

“Families and their children are often not familiar with their holiday locations and key visual roadway differences, including lack of kerbs/guttering and no line markings or footpaths.

Little Blue Dinosaur is excited to be working with Shoalhaven City Council. The campaign is now operating in 25 local Government areas, across four States in Australia,” she said.

Part 3 - Please Explain Video's - Pauline Hanson's Please Explain, Episode 7 "Please Explain How Bills Are Passed"

This week we have the opportunity to learn all about how legislation is passed by our parliament, and we might just learn one or two extra things along the way.

The brilliance of producing these videos is so creative. It might put political cartoonists out of a job!

The best quote I like  in this episode here is - "Where you sit in Parliament is not where you stand!"

I was wondering what has inspired the creation of these cartoon videos and up came up with a video from 10 years ago or more Is this what inspired Please Explain cartoons? - Click here

Historic Nowra Bridge repurposing - Community Survey - NSW Government

Well, for those of you who don't know around the Shoalhaven LGA, my community background: I was a former public transport within Mount Druitt and surrounding suburbs (about 13 suburbs all up), which led to a huge group of community-minded people to receive back into the community two out of three bus serves that were important and removed from important parts of the community. I didn't win these back, the people of Mount Druitt did.

I then expanded to be an alone community supporter and advocate, starting with holes in the ground. I have had many achievements, small and large, interviews from local papers, including Sydney Radio interviews, lobbying with all Local, State and Federal politicians. Why am I stating this? Public Transport is my original passsion as a community advocate so, Nowra Historical Bridge would be a great way to start public transport improvements within the Shoalhaven LGA linking better public transport to people, in they are in need of it.

I've heard how our 'youth' have issues getting back at night from Bomaderry reaching Central Nowra and that Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention & Awareness Network provide taxi vouchers to help our youth reach their desired destinations Click here for further details

When public transport is raised with anyone in this area - it really creates a diverse topic of interest. People come up with wonderful ideas of how to improve bus services. It has been suggested to use Club's in the area Community shuttle buses to help people in the area get around.

So, here is your chance to complete a community survey that could change the Nowra Historical Bridge. I encourage everyone to have their say*.
