Strory Factory Update

Hi John

Do you know a young person who's ready cook up a storm? (metaphorically that is!). If there's someone in your life who's ever wondered how to add some zest to their writing, or what the perfect recipe might be for a great story, we've got them covered!

On 7-8 of September, we're running Story Factory's Novella Kitchen, a two-day in-house weekend Novella Bootcamp at our Parramatta centre (complete with pizza, games and fun). Over the two days, our team of expert Storytellers will help young people whip up the tastiest, juiciest novella to be professionally published in 2024. Open to any high-school aged writers with a flair for the creative, come along to get stuck into some exciting writing! Sign up today.

This month, the Story Factory Digital team also ran a hugely successful and entertaining Pop-Up Poetry event alongside Museums of History NSW for nearly 2,000 young people, showing them how to create poetry that adds just a touch of magic to the world.

With a number of exciting workshops and collaborations coming up, keep an eye on this space!

Onwards,
Story Factory

FREE TO FASHION

In partnership with local not-for-profit The Social Outfit, we have been running a Special Project entitled 'Free to Fashion', with 32 young women from Birrong Girls High School and Bossley Park High School. With a book due to be launched at Carriageworks at the end of September, their work offers a fresh perspective on what fashion means.

SYDNEY SCIENCE FESTIVAL FAMILY DAY

This month, we joined our friends from the Powerhouse Museum at Sydney Science Festival Family Day in Parramatta Square for a day of space-themed exploration and fun for the whole family. Along with a few of our brilliant volunteers, our team had an absolute blast combining science and creative writing!

STUDENT WRITING

Inspired by a quiet curve of a seldom used track, this month's feature student piece contains some beautiful imagery from Edward. Head to our website to read his entire poem.

WRITER PROFILE: LIZZY CILLA

Reading and writing have been a lifelong love for 17-year-old Lizzy Cilla. When she was just seven years old, she dreamed of writing her own book, so it’s no surprise she’s found her community at Story Factory.

Support more fantastic young people to find their voice and write their stories!
