Shoalhaven City Council Media Release

16 September 2020

Veolia Mulwaree Trustee, Henry Gundry visited the Shoalhaven to present a cheque for $21,000 to Shoalhaven City Council's Mayor Amanda Findley.

Veolia's donation will fund the installation of a Liberty Swing as part of Council’s new inclusive playground development at Plantation Point Reserve, Vincentia.

Liberty Swings are an Australian invention that enable people using wheelchairs to experience the fun and enjoyment of swinging.

Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley said "This upgrade at Plantation Point Reserve will enable all members of the community to come together, form new friendships and explore through play. The design phase has included community consultation to incorporate community needs and desires for the area.

"Inclusive play spaces are vital to help people of all ages and abilities to develop a wider sense of community. The planned improvements at Plantation Point will create a real community space, providing an environment facilitating safe play whilst developing further social skills,” she said.

Construction of the new inclusive play space is scheduled to begin in October.

As well as upgrades to the playground, works planned for the reserve include a new amenities building with provisions for persons with a disability and accessible beach access from the Reserve to Barfleur Beach. Works are scheduled for completion by early 2031.
