2008 The movie Mamma Mia!, featuring the music of ABBA and based on the musical, opens in Sweden where the group attends the screening, briefly reuniting Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, and Agnetha Faltskog. The photogenic couple draw lots of press coverage and become known as "Posh and Becks."   1987 John Fogerty headlines a Vietnam veterans' benefit concert at the Capital Center in Landover, Maryland broadcast by HBO. Survey results – July 2024

We surveyed Central Coast Council’s customers about their satisfaction with their water services and compare these results with similar water utilities in Victoria. Measuring and reporting on customer satisfaction over time could help drive improvement in the utility’s performance, in line with customer preferences, through ‘competition by comparison’.

Music Calendar History - Event of the Day 'The Doors Close On Jim Morrison'

 

1971 Jim Morrison of The Doors is found dead in a bathtub at age 27. No autopsy is performed, and while drugs are suspected, the official cause is listed as "heart attack induced by respiratory problems." Read the full story   More Events:   1995 The members of R&B group TLC file for bankruptcy despite continued success.   1973 At the Hammersmith Odeon in London, David Bowie appears as Ziggy Stardust for the last time, explaining: "Not only is this the last show of the tour, but it's the last show that we'll ever do." Many take this to mean Bowie was retiring from music altogether, though Bowie just means he is retiring Stardust. This show is later made into a movie directed by D.A. Pennebaker called Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars.   1995 Jewel lands her first television gig, appearing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, where she is spotted by actor Sean Penn. Music History Calendar - Events of The Day 'Guns N' Roses Start A Riot In St. Louis'

 

1991 At a Guns N' Roses show in St. Louis, Axl Rose grows irate when he sees someone in the crowd taking pictures, and he leaves the stage, announcing, "Thanks to the lame-ass security, I'm going home." A riot follows, and the band's equipment is destroyed. Read the full story   More Events:   2005 Pink Floyd perform "Comfortably Numb" at the Live 8 London concert, re-forming with band members Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright for the first time since 1981, when Waters left the band. It's the last time the four play together, as Wright dies in 2008.   1990 Tesla records their album Five Man Acoustical Jam live at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia. Their cover of "Signs" becomes a surprise hit and catalyzes an acoustic rock trend, with MTV's Unplugged series delving into more rock acts soon after.   1962 Jimi Hendrix is honorably discharged from the Army after serving a little over a year of his 3-year commitment. WSPD 2024 theme announced With World Suicide Prevention Day coming up on 10 September, we are pleased to announce the continuation of last year's theme: “We all have a role to play” The theme embodies that we stand united in our commitment to reduce suicide, empowering individuals with the confidence to take action.  Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing posters and social posts for all members to promote their World Suicide Prevention Day events.

The event hopes to build more compassion and understanding in the wider community and show support for the people who care for our pets as well as being a platform for the veterinary field to come together to support each other in a relaxed setting. More Men's Table Entree Multiple dates and locations available. The Men’s Table Entree is an introduction to The Men’s Table through open sharing over a relaxed and conversational meal. This month, they have entree tables in Kalgoorlie, Noosa, Logan, Drysdale and Caloundra. The cost includes a meal. The Entree event is a chance to meet other men, learn about how a Table works and helping you decide whether you’d like to part of this local Men’s Table group. Learn more R U OK National Student Art Competition Open Call RU OK? are encouraging year 7 and 8 students to create an artwork that represents their answers to the question, 'What does an R U OK? conversation mean to you?'. Artworks can include paintings, drawings, collages, sketches, photographs or digital artworks. Students can enter a maximum of two entries per student.
