Plans for A New Sanctuary Point LIbray Are Moving Ahead - Shoalhaven City Council

Plans for a new Sanctuary Point Library are moving forward, with a revised scope of works now under development.

At the ordinary council meeting held on 29 July 2024, the Council resolved progress work to rescope a new capital works project based on Warilla Library (ref. MIN.24.404).

The related report is available to view on our website, HERE.

The rescoping processes is necessary to ensure the project can proceed, following the AEC Financial Sustainability Review (November 2023), which identified the need to increase operating revenue and reduce expenses.

Brewster Hjorth Architects (BHA), who created the initial library plans and designed the Warilla Library, are expected to remain the appointed Principal Architect for the project.

We will continue to publish regular updates here, so stay informed by subscribing to receive project updates directly to your inbox.

Sanctuary Point LIbruary - Project Paused until Council's Finanancial Position Improves And My Notes

Sanctuary Point Library - Project Paused

The Sanctuary Point Library project has been placed on pause, in accordance with Council Meeting MIN24.148 (25/03/2024), until Council’s financial position improves.

Shoalhaven City Council is committed to delivering a district library in Sanctuary Point. Investigations will continue to identify a feasible solution, in accordance with Council Meeting MIN24.241 (06/05/2024).

For more information about the work we are doing to improve our financial sustainability, please visit our Financial Sustainability Program webpage. web page.

For more information about the project, please visit the Sanctuary Point Library Get Involved web page.

Kind regards,

Community Engagement Team
Shoalhaven City Council

EDITOR'S NOTES: Well it appears all the funding allocated to ensure this project goes through with the new revamped plans, has run out of money. My understanding ever since the project has been in place - it may have costed Council $2M so far. So, now this has been placed on the 'Back Burner'. Is that what we need as Council got the entire community, led by my the current  Green's Party Mayor, Amanada Findley, why didn't she do her sums up properly before, instead of leading our community astray?

Secondly,  They are naming it 'Sanctuary Point Library', I thought it was 'The bay & Basin Library'?
