Shoalhaven Water is Encouraging Shoalhaven Households to Sign up for Water Night - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

Shoalhaven City Council Media Release

5 October 2021

Shoalhaven Water has teamed up with Smart Approved WaterMark to encourage Australian households to be ‘water mindful’ and to be self-aware when reaching for the tap.

Shoalhaven Water, Council’s Water Utility is encouraging Shoalhaven households to sign up and participate in “Water Night”, a water awareness event to be held during National Water Week.

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley said the Water Night is a challenge to not use taps, showers and running water from midday to midnight on Thursday 21 October (use of water for hand hygiene and religious reasons is exempt of course).

“On Water Night, using a bucket is a key element so you can also take on the bucket challenge where children can decorate the bucket they will be using on the night. This can be done in the classroom or at home”, Clr Findley said.

“We believe that if we all recognise how often we reach for our taps and how subconsciously we do it, we will have a whole new perspective on how we use and save water”, Clr Findley said.

To find out more information visit Shoalhaven Waters’ website or to register for the challenge visit the Water Night website.
