Anti-Australia Day Forces Weaking - Jacinta Nampijinpa Price - Country/Liberal Party - Australian Senate (NT)

 

Last week I wrote about how hopeful I am now that the anti-Australia Day forces seem to be weakening. Poll after poll in the last couple of weeks showed that support for January 26 as Australia Day is on the rise. But this year, there was one institution that held out. One taxpayer-funded organisation that’s still trying to denigrate our country and divide us by race. I’m talking, of course, about the ABC. On January 22, the ABC aired a “comedy” program hosted by Tony Armstrong called Always Was Tonight. It was filled with racially-charged comments about white Australians, pushing the usual activist rhetoric about stolen land, and trashed Australia Day. Outlets such as The Australian covered the divisive content in detail, but I noticed something they didn’t talk about. The show included a “news ticker” along the bottom of the screen throughout its airtime. There, the show posted some of the worst of its divisive one-liners, including: “Dispossession: the only true crime white people don’t love investigating” “ABC announces more manageable series: Stuff the British didn’t steal” “Government announces people with ‘white saviour complex’ now eligible for NDIS” “National Reconciliation Week announces theme for 2026: ‘Nah, f**k yas’” There was much more where that came from, including some language I won’t be putting in here. The ABC defended the show, saying it was “satire” and “challenging”. Frankly, that’s absurd. Everyone knows the very serious rhetoric used by inner city Indigenous activists. It’s indistinguishable from what was in this program. It’s language based on victimhood narratives, racial division, and a dishonest black armband version of history.  It’s a culture of complaint that takes aim at the easy targets of “colonialism” and “white Australia” and refuses to engage with the serious problems in remote Indigenous communities that are often caused by Aboriginal culture. Australia has had dark chapters in our history, but we’ve done a lot better than many other places, and we have bent over backwards time and again to acknowledge those chapters and apologise for them. But for the urban activist class, that’s not enough. It will never be enough. Their project is not to unite and work together to build a better Australia, it’s to divide and destroy and take. The ABC’s charter says they have a role to “protect and promote our national identity” and are committed to “non-discrimination”. With this show, they failed. Time for REAL solutions. 2022 Shoalhaven Australia Day Awards Nominations Now Open - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

Shoalhaven City Council is inviting the community to submit a nomination for the Shoalhaven Australia Day Awards 2022.  

Each year Council celebrates and recognises local residents of the Shoalhaven who have made a positive contribution in the community.  

The Awards are held as part of the Australia Day Celebrations, organised by the Shoalhaven City Council in conjunction with the Australia Day Council NSW. 

This year there are eight categories in this years’ Awards which include:  

• Citizen of the Year: 25 years & over  
• Young Citizen: 24 years & younger 
• Sports Person: 19 years & over 
• Junior Sports Person: 18 years & younger  
• Outstanding emerging Artist: all ages 
• Outstanding contribution to Arts & Culture: all ages    
• Outstanding contribution to the Environment: all ages  
• ·Community Leader contributing to an inclusive Shoalhaven: all ages.  

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley said “the annual Shoalhaven Australia Day Awards presented a fantastic opportunity to recognise a wide range of individuals who have had a positive impact our region in the past year”.  

“If you know someone in the community who has gone above and beyond, I encourage you to nominate them for one of the eight categories of the Shoalhaven Australia Day Awards”, Clr Findley added.  

“The Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the true unsung heroes in our community. After what has been an unexpectedly challenging year, it’s important that we reflect and celebrate the incredible efforts that people in our community have gone to help make the Shoalhaven a better place to live, work and play”, Clr Findley stated.        

Nominations are now open and can be submitted until 5pm Friday 26 November 2021.

The winners will be announced on Australia Day, Wednesday 26 January 2022.

 New Croquet Club for Milton Ulladulla

The construction of a new croquet facility at Ulladulla Sports Park is now underway.  

Council has engaged a contractor to construct two croquet courts, lighting infrastructure, drainage, irrigation, landscaping and car parking on the new site.

Nominations Open for 2021 Australia Day Awards - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

Shoalhaven City Council is calling for nominations for the 2021 Shoalhaven Australia Day Awards.

Each year Council celebrates and recognises outstanding contributions of local residents in the Shoalhaven.  

The Awards are held as part of the Australia Day Celebrations, organised by the Shoalhaven City Council in conjunction with the Australia Day Council NSW. 

This year there are five categories in this years’ Awards include:

·                  Outstanding contribution towards innovating arts & culture: all ages,    

·                  Outstanding contribution to the environment: all ages,

Shoalhaven City Council’s Mayor Amanda Findley acknowledged that whilst it has been a challenging 12 months for the Shoalhaven the Awards presented a timely opportunity to reflect and celebrate each other.  

“Amongst the hardship and challenges we have all faced I know there will be plenty of inspirational people who deserve to be recognised for their contribution”, Clr Findley said.  

“If you know someone in the community who has gone above and beyond, I encourage you to nominate them for one of the five categories of the Shoalhaven Australia Day Awards”, Clr Findley added.

Nominations can be submitted until Monday 30 November 2020.  

The winners will be announced on Australia Day, Tuesday 26 January 2021 in an online COVID-19 friendly event.

Australia Day 2020 - Duck Derby in Moona Moona Creek

At Moona Moona Creek, we celebrated Australia Day with the Moona Moona Creek. The ducks cost $5.00 each as hundred of  (plastic) ducks were going down Moona Moona Creek, to a finishing line not far away. This was all organised by the Jervis Bay Maritime Rescue and finds donated to them.
