Fiona Phillips Update - Federal Member for Gilmore

Delivering a positive difference for everyone in Gilmore

Our Government is getting to work straight away, delivering more help with cost of living, more investment in the next generation and more support for working Australians.

From today, July 1, new actions are kicking in to help you and your family.

We’re tackling the cost of living head-on:

Every household in Gilmore and across Australia will see $150 taken off their power bills, while 3 million minimum and award wage workers are getting a 3.5% pay rise. Plus, we’re delivering 30% discounts on home batteries to permanently cut your power bills.

We’re investing in Australia’s future by backing you and investing in education and training:

Eligible student nurses, teachers, social workers, and midwives will get paid during prac placements – because getting the experience you need shouldn’t mean choosing between your studies and paying the bills.

And if you’re training to be a tradie to help build the homes Australia needs, we’ll support you with a $10,000 cash bonus.

We’re strengthening support for families across the South Coast:

The superannuation guarantee is increasing from 11.5% to 12%, giving you more security for the future.

Working parents will now get two extra weeks of Government Paid Parental Leave, and for the first time, you’ll earn super while on Government Paid Parental Leave– a big step towards closing the gender retirement gap.

We’re building Medicare and making it stronger:

We’re also boosting Medicare with $1.8 billion in hospital funding, extending the $20,000 Instant Asset Write Off for small businesses and delivering more energy bill relief to help businesses grow.

In these uncertain times, the Albanese Labor Government is focused on delivering a positive difference for every Australian and turning promises into action.

As always, if I can be of any further help in the future, please contact me on 4423 1782 or email me at Fiona.Phillips.MP@aph.gov.au.

Yours sincerely,

Fiona Phillips MP
