Cruise Ships Banned in Jervis Bay

The Minns Labor Government has ruled out any expansion of cruise ship tourism in Jervis Bay Marine Pae, to ensure the protection of the park's important natural and social values.

This is a huge community win! I'd like to thank the hard-working community groups and members that have campaigned for many years to achieve this outcome.

Saving Wombats on the South Coast

At South Coast Wildlife Rescue in Falls Creek, eight baby wombats are getting a second chance at life. Run by Belinda, a qualified wildlife carer and the coast’s only registered marine rescue expert, the sanctuary can house up to 25 wombats at a time. While Belinda dedicates herself to the animals, her husband Phil works full-time to fund the center and manages maintenance in his spare time.

How you can help
The rescue is always in need of extra hands and funds. If you’d like to volunteer or make a donation, reach out to Belinda to support this vital wildlife initiative.

Connecting with the Community
Before heading back to Parliament, it’s been wonderful getting out and about in the local area! I recently had a great chat with Susan and Marilyn about improving transport for Ulladulla. It’s always inspiring to hear your thoughts and ideas.

Let’s stay connected
Look out for my mobile office and future Facebook posts—I’d love to catch up and chat with you about how we can make our community even better. 🙌

Addressing Affordable Housing and Disability Accommodation
There’s no question we need more affordable housing and specialist disability accommodation, and today’s meeting—hosted by the Lions Ulladulla & Districts Community Foundation—focused on closing these gaps.
While Jindelara Stage 2, a supported independent living project, is already under construction thanks to $800,000 in federal funding, the next goal is expanding affordable housing. The Albanese Government’s

Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF), a $10 billion investment, aims to deliver 20,000 new social and 10,000 new affordable homes. Future rounds will provide ongoing opportunities to kickstart shovel-ready projects.

Celebrating Local Talent at Ulladulla’s NAIDOC Art Exhibition
I had the pleasure of dropping by the TAFE NSW Ulladulla NAIDOC Art Exhibition last weekend, and I was truly impressed by the incredible work produced by these talented students. The exhibition beautifully showcases their interpretations of Aboriginal art as they learn and engage with this rich cultural tradition—it was definitely worth a visit.

A Weekend of Art in Ulladulla
It certainly was an arts-filled weekend in Ulladulla! The Shoalhaven Arts Society Exhibition at the Dunn and Lewis Centre showcased a spectacular display of local talent. The exhibition highlighted the vibrant and diverse creativity of our community’s artists, making it a true celebration of the arts.
If you missed it, be sure to catch future exhibitions—you won’t want to miss these incredible displays of local artistry!

Honoring Admiral Sir Victor Alfred Trumpet Smith: A Navy Legend
Admiral Sir Victor Alfred Trumpet Smith had an extraordinary 49-year Navy career, joining the service at just 13 years old. Known as the father of Australia’s Fleet Air Arm, Admiral VAT Smith played a pivotal role in shaping both the Navy and the nation, particularly through his work at HMAS Albatross.
On Friday, 30th August, the biography of Admiral Smith—written by Graeme Lunn and with a Foreword by Vice Admiral Tim Barrett AO CSC RAN (Rtd)—was launched in a special ceremony. It was a wonderful opportunity to gather with serving Defence members, veterans, and their families to honor this Navy legend.
