Information for renters impacted by COVID-19

If you are a residential tenant who has lost 25% or more of your income due to the lockdown and can’t pay your rent, you should contact your landlord to agree on a plan to repay that money.

Until Saturday 11 September, a landlord can only apply for eviction if they show they’ve gone through the rent negotiation process with NSW Fair Trading in good faith, and their eviction request is fair and reasonable.

If you own a residential rental property and reduce the rent for a lockdown impacted tenant, you can now access financial support including land tax relief or a $1500 grant per property.

Vaccination: the best way to protect yourself and your community

Two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine provide over 90% prevention of hospitalisation from COVID-19.

If you’re 60+ and have not yet been vaccinated, please book a vaccination appointment with your doctor.

If you have had your 1st dose of AstraZeneca and your 2nd dose is not in the next 4 weeks, ask your GP to bring your appointment forward. This will give you protection sooner.

If you're 40-59 and haven't been able to book a Pfizer vaccine appointment, please discuss your circumstances with your GP. You may be able to get the AstraZeneca vaccination. NSW Health vaccination clinics are also giving the AstraZeneca vaccine to 40+.

If you’re 18-39 and would like to get the AstraZeneca vaccine, we encourage you to talk to your doctor.

Keep getting tested & check case locations

If you have any symptoms even if they are mild, it is vital that you get tested immediately and isolate after your test. It’s the best way to help NSW Health find cases in the community and stop the spread.

Please check to see if you have been at any of the locations where cases have been reported, including public transport routes, flights and venues of concern, or interstate locations. You must follow the NSW Health advice for that location.
