Help us #PushForBetter Mental Health - LIfeline

Alternate text

This is a letter I received from Lifeline, I urge you all to read it:

Dear John,

Earlier this year, you got behind Lifeline Australia and supported us through the epic Triple J hottest 100 campaign! Thanks to you, Lifeline Australia raised enough money to reach an additional 18,000 people this year, people who could’ve been in their darkest moments.

We wanted to let you know about the next big thing we are doing to further support our communities…

Reckon you’re game enough to do 3,318 push-ups in a month? Get fit, have fun, and support Lifeline and mental health this June by joining the Push Up Challenge!

What will you push for this June?

At Lifeline, we’re pushing for the time when we speak about our mental health in the same way we speak about our physical health.  We’re pushing for an Australia free of suicide.

Will you help us push for that?

This June Lifeline is pumped to have been named a beneficiary of Australia's largest fitness-based mental health initiative, The Push-Up Challenge.

It’s a real challenge. But so is preventing suicide.

Participants take on 3,318 push-ups from 1-25th June putting the spotlight on the tragic number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2019, whilst raising vital funds for Lifeline's critical services.

Every push-up counts. Every push-up remembers a life lost to suicide.

Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much. John, will you join team Lifeline and push for better mental health?

This past year has taken its toll on many in our community; unprecedented demand for our services has not slowed, with January to March generating more calls for support than ever in the history of Lifeline. Currently, Lifeline is receiving a call for help every 30 seconds.

John, that's about the same time it would take to perform 20 push-ups.

You may have had your own experience with mental ill health, or might know someone going through a tough time.  Not only is The Push-Up Challenge a way to promote exercise as a way of improving your own mental health, it's a great way to start a conversation with your friends and family about their mental health - and show that mental health is just as important as physical health.

Through The Push-Up Challenge you can sign up solo, share the load with your mates or co-workers and create a team that can work together to accomplish 3,318 push-ups.

Spread them out over the day, split them out between your teammates, and track your progress, all while learning more about mental health and raising funds to help create an Australia free of suicide.

My goal is to raise $1 million this June to ensure Lifeline's critical crisis support and suicide prevention services are accessible to anyone who needs them - anytime, anywhere and in the way those who need our support feel most comfortable approaching us.

John, surely that is worth pushing for?

Lifeline is here for all Australians through any challenge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Will you support us in ours?

Join The Push-Up Challenge for Team Lifeline. Register now.

Together with your help we can ensure no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone.

Thank you.
