Rotary in Harmony - Classical Concert (Zoom) |
|
As a gift of music to our fellow Rotarians, families and communities, please join us on Zoom on Sunday, October 11 at 3pm. In this year 2020 when many have found themselves in trying times, the value of the enjoyment of music on one’s mental health has prompted a group of D9800 Rotarians to gather vocalists and musicians together for an afternoon concert to uplift the soul. This concert is FREE but you are encouraged to donate to Australian Rotary Health. |

The Rotary Club of Hampton in Victoria have joined the LIFT THE LID WALKto raise awareness and funds for Australian Rotary Health Youth Mental Health Research. But due to the COVID restrictions they are having to do it a little differently this year. All members are challenging themselves to get out and walk and have set a goal of reaching a combined total of 2,000,000 steps during the month of October and to raise a total of $5,000 towards funding vital mental health research.
Aside from the obvious health benefits for them of getting out during lockdown and going for a walk, we are thrilled that they are being so innovative. If your club is interested in doing something similar it’s all set and ready to go for you! Why This Walk Is So Important Finding ways to combat mental illness and preventing mental health problems starts with mental health research…which can be lifesaving! That’s why the Rotary Club of Hampton members are getting out and walking so they can still be part of the LIFT THE LID WALK. If you can’t get out and walk, you can help them reach their target by supporting them with a donation. They will be updating their website with details of their progress so you can check out updates here. All donations go directly to research by Australian Rotary Health and are tax deductible. To find out more about the walks visit www.liftthelidwalk.com.au. |

Only 2 weeks until Australian Rotary Health celebrates Hat Day on World Mental Health Day, October 10!
If you can't celebrate on that day, that's okay - we have plenty of events you can get involved in/support during Mental Health Month in October. Of course, you can host your own as well!
By supporting Hat Day you are helping to Lift the Lid on Mental Illness by breaking down the stigma and contributing to vital mental health research.
We know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness every year, but with COVID-19, these figures may have increased. Therefore, it is more important than ever that we continue to fund mental health research, especially for our youth. |
