Shoal Bus Timetable Now Available At Jervis Bay Tourist Information

To assist our community with more information on local bus timetables, from today, you can pick up hard copies of Shoal Bus Timetables at 'Shop Between The Flags' (Jervis Bay Tourist Information) Shop 1-2/18  Sanctuary Point Road, Sanctuary, during business hours.

These timetables include an inserted timetable for bus services provided from Sussex Inlet to Vincentia via Tomerong and return Bus 134. Other Bus services they provide are to Shoalhaven Heads, Berry, Gerroa, North Nowra to Gerringong.

Chris & Sharon Goldsmith are Ambassadors for Shoalhaven Tourism, - therefore they will be able to assist you with the information you require to catch local bus services, which are vital in strengthening our communities with public transport.

Roundabout completes first stage of Far North Collector Road Network Project - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

Shoalhaven City Council opened the roundabout at Illaroo Road, North Nowra and West Cambewarra Road, Bangalee on 1 March 2021. The roundabout is the first construction stage of the Far North Collector Road Project.

The Far North Collector Road Project is fully funded by the Australian Government and provides an important first stage solution to alleviate the traffic congestion on Illaroo Road. The finished project will link lllaroo Road (near the western end of West Cambewarra Road, Bangalee) to Moss Vale Road (at Bells Lane) in Cambewarra. The entire project is currently scheduled to be completed by 2023.

As the design of the Project has progressed, Council has identified a need for additional funds to address potential flood impacts. Council has applied for further funding from the Federal Government and is awaiting final approval.

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley is pleased with the progress to date.

“It’s a big project with a few more stages to come and continued progress is a priority for Council,” Clr Findley said.

“Once complete there will be some great benefits to this project, like reduced travel time, less congestion and traffic noise on Illaroo Road and better emergency response times with improved traffic conditions,” Clr Findley said.

“The project is also a win for the Shoalhaven economy with the design and construction expected to generate at least 50 jobs, with a number of jobs earmarked for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples under an indigenous participation plan. The delivery of this project will showcase Council’s strong working relationship with the Federal Government,” said Clr Findley.

The next stages of the project will involve;

• the connection of Far North Collector to Moss Vale Road. This intersection is being designed and will require Transport for New South Wales approval as Moss Vale Road is a State road.
• the connection from Moss Vale Road to Illaroo Road, and
• the connection from Far North Collector to Taylors Road.

Surface Quality Improvements Completed at Bernie Regan Sporting Complex - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

Shoalhaven City Council is pleased to announce the completion of irrigation works at Bernie Regan Sporting Complex at North Nowra.  

The installation was jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government with a total project cost of $240,000. Works included the installation of phone based smart controllers that can be programmed to optimise turf growth whilst minimising water usage. 

This installation will greatly improve the surface quality at the complex which is home to both the North Nowra Cricket Club and Illaroo Football Club.  

Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley is delighted with the water efficiency improvements and the benefit to the sporting community. 

“Improvements to infrastructure is essential to ensure these facilities can host high quality events and be utilised by the community all year round,” she said. 

“Council is committed to securing investments in our region to improve infrastructure and ensure our community has the high class facilities they expect and deserve,” said Clr Findley. 

This irrigation project follows on from other recent installations including Sanctuary Point Oval, Bomaderry Sporting Complex, Nowra Showground added area and Ray Abood Oval in Cambewarra all of which were co-funded with the NSW Government.  

Further field works undertaken through the NSW Government funding included the installation of subsurface drainage at Ulladulla Sporting Complex and Sanctuary Point Oval. These installations allow for rapid field recovery following high rainfall events.
