Jancita Nampijinpa Price Update

Jacinta Price

Dear All,

Australia was built by people willing to have a go.

It’s the local cafĂ© owner opening before dawn.

The tradie who takes the risk of hiring his first apprentice.

The family business built over years of hard work and sacrifice.

It’s aspiration in action.

But this week in Senate Estimates, I’ve been asking a simple question:

Is the Albanese Government making it easier or harder for Australians to have a go?

The answers should concern all of us.

Since Labor came to power, more than 45,000 Australian businesses have entered insolvency.

Small businesses continue to face rising costs. Red tape keeps growing, and confidence is falling.

And many business owners are telling me they’re working harder than ever just to stand still.

You can see it in your community. You can hear it on talkback radio. I read about it in the messages supporters send me every day.

Yet when questioned about the surge in business failures, ASIC seemed more interested in pointing to cash flow problems, trading losses and poor financial management.

But tens of thousands of Australians did not suddenly forget how to run a business.

Cash flow becomes a problem when costs rise, customers pull back, borrowing becomes more expensive, and insurance premiums go up – and Albo’s Labor government just makes it harder to operate.

At a roundtable I held with small businesses this week, the message from them was clear: uncertainty is a killer.

When business owners don’t know what new taxes, regulations or compliance costs are coming next, they stop investing.

They stop hiring, and that’s bad for all of us.

Small business owners do not ask for guarantees. They ask for a fair go.

Australia needs more people willing to back themselves.

More people willing to start businesses.

More people willing to employ Australians and invest in their communities.

Australians who take risks, create jobs and back themselves deserve a government that backs them too.

I’ll keep fighting in Canberra for policies that reduce barriers, restore confidence and make it easier for Australians to succeed.

Because when small businesses succeed, everyone wins.

Time for REAL solutions.
