Dear All, This week I want to give a massive shoutout and congratulations to Moira Deeming, who has come through fire to finally win re-endorsement for her seat in the upper house of the Victorian Parliament. Moira has been a great servant of her community and especially a fearless fighter for women, and Victorians will be better off with her once again in the State Parliament. Credit, too, to Victorian Liberal leader Jess Wilson, who ensured this was resolved after the previous messy preselection. Moira is an inspiring example of courage and sticking to your guns. She was smeared for attending a rally supporting women that got hijacked by outsiders. But she refused to back down because the truth was on her side. Women are women, men are men. It’s basic biology. And those who pretend otherwise are, aside from affirming a lie, making things much less safe for women and girls. For refusing to apologise for speaking that truth, Moira has had her name dragged through the mud. Media, politicians, and activists have relentlessly attacked her and tried to drive her out of public life. But she has stayed strong and true to her values and has come out the other side stronger. And now it’s time to take the fight to Labor with the Victorian election coming later this year. Victoria is a great state and Melbourne is a wonderful city, so it’s been tough to watch it be governed so poorly by Labor over the last decade. The recent revelations of union corruption and thuggery are just the latest in a long story of mismanagement and waste from Dan Andrews and, now, Jacinta Allan. It’s going to be a hard fight. Most recently, in South Australia, we saw how tough it is for the Liberal Party out there. But Victorian Labor is far worse and Victoria’s economy is in a dire situation. Moira’s resilience and toughness are exactly what’s needed to win – and Victoria will be better off for it. Time for REAL solutions.
