National Student Art Competition - RU OK?

Yellow banner with title: R U OK? National Student Art Competition with yellow paint and paintbrush

Entry period extended until 31 July

Art has the power to start conversations that count. That's why we're calling on year 7 and 8 students across Australia to create an artwork that responds to the question:

What does an R U OK? conversation mean to you?

Students are encouraged to respond to the brief in any way they like. It could:

  • Explore a time when a friend was there for you, or when you were there for them.
  • Represent how a meaningful conversation makes you feel.
  • Encourage others to check in with their mates.
  • Provide ideas of how to support someone you care about.

What kind of artworks are allowed?

We're accepting drawings, paintings, or mixed media works, collages, photographs or digital artworks. Videos and three-dimensional sculptures will not be accepted.

What are the prizes?

Five major prize winners (‘Creative Legends’) will receive an expenses paid trip to Sydney to attend the prize-giving event at the Art Gallery of NSW on 5 September 2024.

The five Creative Legends will be selected from the 16 finalists (2 from each Australian state and territory) who will receive a certificate and a prize pack containing art supplies and R U OK? goodies.

How do I enter?

The entry period has been extended and now closes at 5pm AEST on 31 July 2024. Entries must be submitted via the online form here.
