Council Increases Cleaning and Bin Collection in Response to Summer Demand - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

Shoalhaven City Council Media Release

4 December 2020

Shoalhaven City Council is increasing public amenities cleaning and public bin collection in response to the current Shoalhaven tourism boom.

Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley said, "Since the October long weekend our visitor numbers have reached levels that we normally experience in the summer holidays.

“We are currently in the peak season and are experiencing summer demand. In response to the increased visitor numbers, for the next 11 weeks our parks cleaning schedule will include an additional 1056 cleans.

“Public bin collections have also been increased to summer service levels with five trucks clearing bins on weekends for the next eight weeks.

"We are committed to maintaining healthy, safe and sustainable community facilities and work to ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene for public amenities,” said Clr Findley.

“Council is aware that the increases in cleaning and waste collection may need to continue beyond January. This is a dynamic situation and we will reassess the need for increased service levels,” she said.

Residents and visitors can report a problem such as a public rubbish or public amenities issue via Council's Report a Problem webpage, via phone or in person.

If the matter is urgent, call Council during business hours on 02 44293111 or after hours on 02 4421 3100 instead of using the online form.
