Shoalhaven City Council Joins NSW Government To Fast Track Planning Assessments - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

Shoalhaven City Council is one of the 

first in the State to opt-in to the NSW

 Government Planning System

 Acceleration Program, in a move to

 fast track Council-led planning projects

 in the Shoalhaven region.

  

Introduced in April, the Program offers

 tools, guidance and support to fast-

track planning projects and will work to

 increase employment and investment

 opportunities in communities.

  

Mayor Amanda Findley supported the

 move, which will allow Council to help

 the Shoalhaven community rebound

 from the impacts of the COVID-19

 pandemic. 

 “The Program is a great example of

 State and local government working

 together to generate investment and

 jobs in the community during this time

 of uncertainty,” Mayor Findley said. 

  

“Once a project is selected for the

 program, it is determined within four

 weeks. This will help to encourage 

confidence and will help to ensure our

 construction industry remains healthy

 to continue to support our community’s

 infrastructure needs.

As part of the accelerated assessment

 program, Shoalhaven City Council will 

receive: 

• Key tools and documents from the State’s Planning System Acceleration Program that will enable council to implement a transparent and robust fast-tracked assessment process at a local level; 
• Access to the Government’s new ‘One Stop Shop’ that has been set up to manage complex planning projects and coordination between government agencies; 
• Training and support from senior planners within the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment to establish local accelerated assessment programs; and 
• Direction from the NSW Government to State and regional planning panels to support efforts by councils to get shovel-ready projects out the door faster.

 Blacktown, The Hills, Parramatta, 

Camden, Campbelltown, Canterbury

 Bankstown, Northern Beaches,

 Wagga, Albury and Port Stephens.

My Response to Shoalhaven City Council ' Draft & Operational Plan' Webinar 18th June 2020

I have raised some questions to the Webinar, as a matter of significance as follows and whilst the Webinar Started 3pm, have not had a response to any of them:

• Has the Sanctuary Point Library sight been chosen as this wasn't mentioned in the SP Library survey?
• Will any Council jobs be lost with $300 COVID-19 Financial assistance to ratepayers?
• Councillors in May 2020 have voted on 0.0% increase in rates 2020-2021 but Budget Overviews states there is an IPART rate increase - please explain?
• Will the Francis Ryan Reserve Amenities $200K include a pump track beside the Skate Park in SP?

Got 3 out of 4 questions asked, which is great. I will outline what I heard the answers to be, here:

• Yes, the Council has purchased land on the corner of  Kerry Streets and  Paradise Point Roads - but didn't respond to why it wasn't mentioned in the survey to the Sanctuary Point Library. There were 3 areas suggested as sights for the Library.
• In relation to job losses. No. The budget makes full provision to support existing employees - During COVID-19 some casual were redeployed into other roles.
• Apparently, there was not a 0% increase to exhibit a 3.4% rate peg as per  NSW IPART increase rate.

I will further feedback later, as received.

Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release - Shoalhaven's Future Services, Programs and Projects

Now is your chance to have your say on the services, programs and projects Shoalhaven City Council is planning for the coming financial year. Council is seeking feedback on the Draft Delivery Program, Operational Plan and Budget  2020/21, which includes Council's proposed fees  and charges. The draft Plan outlines how Council is working  towards achieving the community’s and long-term  vision for our region. The aim is to deliver  infrastructure and services which creates a safe  and attractive community for people to live, work,  stay and play in. Council plans to create a  sustainable future, where growth, development and  environmental protection are support our unique  and relaxed lifestyle Council is committed to delivering valuable  infrastructure and services to the community in  2020/21 and proposed to invest $120 million in  capital works including, play equipment, footpaths,  safe roads, improved car parks, bridges, boating  and sports field amenities. The Draft Delivery Program, Operational Plan and  Budget 2020/21 details the major projects, COVID- 19 Assistance Package and the measures  Council will take to work with the community to  recover from the recent disasters and to mitigate  the impact of these crises now and into the future. Please provide your feedback by 5pm 24 June  2020.
