My Teams Update

With NRL starting up 2 weeks ago, this week's loss 18- 28 against the Broncos and the loss the week before to the Sea Eagles loss 24-36.  They are currently on the 15th on the ladder, with Roodters to play next Friday night. Hopefully, the win here will kickstart the year for them.

Western Sydney Wanderers just won against Perth Glory 2-1 at Perth, jump to the top 6th, Next game will be Macarthur Rams - who are in 3rd place. This is where we really to win and we could climb back up the ladder and end up as 5th, following Sydney FC, where I hope we make the game turn our way.

Tottenham Hotspurs are 5th on the EPL ladder with a great win 4 - 0, against Aston Villa (who are 4th), Tomorrow we play Fulham, who are 12th on the ladder. If Aston Villa lose and we win, we could jump into 4th position

Paris Saint Germain is stop on top with 56 points, 10 points clear of Brest. Monday, they play against Montpellier who is 12th on the ladder, so we will see how they end up.

The Western Sydney Giants AFL Team 2024, what can I say. The team is coming first as they have played 2 rounds. A week ago, they beat the grand finalists of 2023 Collingwood, 114 - 82 and yesterday, the North Melbourne team 121 to 82. Next week they play West Coast Eagles in WA. It is good news that there are 2 Sydney team in the top 2 of the AFL table. Early days yet.

Updates on all Teams I support:

Western Sydney Wanderers is 5th on 28 points, he ladder with a 2 -1 win against Adelaide City. I point behind Macarthur and with the next game local Derby against Sydney City on 2nd March 2024

South Sydney Rabbitohs kick off their season against Manly Sea Eagles in the Mighty USA, on Sunday, 1.30 pm. The last two training matches were a win and a loss 10-46 against the Roosters and 28 - 6 in The Charity Shield against The St George Dragons.

Tottenham are in 5th place on 47 points with a loss to Wolves recently 1-2 and next up is the game against Crystal Palace, whilst the  Chelsea game has been postponed. A few more winning games will place Spurs in a stronger place for 3rd.

Paris Saint-Germain are clear leaders in the French League on 54 points, their nearest rivals are Brest on 43 points. Their next game is on Saturday against Monaco in 3rd place with 41 points.  For me, losing Mbape at the end of the season, could make the next season  more interesting

For my French families, I am happy for some of them who support Lyon, who when I left France, last year was 2nd last on the French Ligue table yo currently in 10th place. Congratulations!

Michael Maguire Officially Announced As Blues Origin Coach - NRL.com

The NSW Rugby League Board has appointed Michael Maguire as the new head coach of the NSW Blues.

Maguire, 49, fresh from steering the New Zealand national team to a historic 30-0 Pacific Cup Final win over the Kangaroos this month, will become the 16th coach of the Blues following the end of Brad Fittler’s six-year tenure. Maguire has coached 303 First Grade games with Wigan (2010-2011), South Sydney (2012-17) and Wests Tigers (2019-22), winning the 2010 Super League title, 2011 Challenge Cup, and 2014 NRL premiership with the Rabbitohs.

NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden made the announcement on Thursday at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence, also revealing that Maguire’s high-performance team will include John Cartwright (Broncos), Matt King (Roosters), and Brett White (Titans).

Highly respected Melbourne Storm football manager Frank Ponissi will be the Blues' team performance manager, with other appointments including Andrew Gray (physical performance manager) and Sean Edwards (strength and conditioning), who also have extensive NRL club experience.

“On behalf of the NSWRL Chairman Paul Conlon and the Board, it gives me great pleasure to announce Michael Maguire has agreed to a multi-year appointment as the head coach of the Westpac NSW Blues, starting from 2024," Trodden said.

“In recent years we have been blessed with the stability of long-term coaching tenures with Brad Fittler, Laurie Daley and Ricky Stuart and we are looking forward to this engagement following the same pattern.

We all have expectations of immediate success in 2024 together with the opportunity to build a structure that will provide for sustained long-term success. David Trodden

Editor's Notes: I feel that a change should be a good change in the right direction. Michael is a good coach, especially when he guided South Sydney to a grand final win in 2014. I hope the players look up to him and keep the NSW Cockroach's pride.
