Dear All, I’m tired. My family and my community are still mourning the death of Kumanjayi Little Baby. Meanwhile, the government and the media want to move on as quickly as possible. Why? Because looking the truth in the eye is just too hard. But I’m tired of the silence and the excuses. This week, I rose in the Senate to give one of the hardest speeches I’ve ever had to give. It was a tribute to my niece. But also a call to action and the need to put the safety of children before ideology and politics. It includes everything I want to say, so I would appreciate it if, today, you would take the time to read or watch it. You can read the speech here. Or you can click here to watch it.
Thank you for standing with me today.
