National Suicide Prevention Conference 2026 — NSW public holiday

The NSW Government has recently announced an additional public holiday on Monday 27 April 2026.

This falls on the same date as our scheduled Pre-Conference Workshops and Member Reception. As this announcement was made after our event planning and venue confirmations were finalised, we will be proceeding with all scheduled pre-conference activities as planned.

Our workshops and Member Reception remain an important part of the conference program, and we look forward to welcoming those who have registered. All workshop details, times and locations remain unchanged. We appreciate your understanding and continued support, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Media Training Workshop — 4 March 2026

Join Suicide Prevention Australia’s Advocacy Team for this practical, interactive media training webinar designed for suicide prevention organisations and sector leaders looking to build confidence, capability and consistency when engaging with the media.

This opportunity is best suited for smaller member organisations and individuals in the sector and is limited to 20 participants.

National Suicide Prevention Strategy — Webinar 20 February 2026

Suicide Prevention Australia hosted a webinar on Friday 20 February to mark the first anniversary of the launch of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy. Key takeaways from the webinar included:

The proposed benefits of the future Outcomes Framework to track implementation and progress over time.
The need for long-term sustainable investment to implement actions in the national Strategy within the upcoming 2026-27 Federal Budget.
The vital shift to a whole-of-government approach, embedding lived experience into service design and decision making and ensuring access to support for all.

Upcoming Webinar — Adverse Childhood Experiences — 8 April 2026

Join Suicide Prevention Australia for a webinar exploring how adverse childhood experiences (ACE) impact suicide risk and what this means for suicide prevention in Australia.

The event includes a presentation on Suicide Prevention Australia’s Adverse Childhood Experiences and Suicide report findings followed by a panel discussion with researchers, practitioners and lived experience voices. This panel discussion will focus on gaps, prevention opportunities and key considerations for groups disproportionately impacted by ACE-related suicide risk.

Have your say — 'Claim your Human Rights' Survey

Lived Experience Australia is conducting a national survey to understand what works and collect ideas for how people identify and access their human rights when interacting with mental health services.

This survey is for people 15 years and over with mental health challenges or with lived experience of caring for family members with mental health challenges.

This survey closes on Friday 6 March 2026.

2026 National Indigenous Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Conference:
The Australian Indigenous Psychologists Association (AIPA) is hosting the 2026 National Indigenous Mental Health and Suicide Conference, to be held on Kaurna Country, Adelaide, on 24-26 March 2026. The 2026 conference theme is "Honouring our ways of knowing, being and doing: Leading transformative change in Indigenous suicide prevention and mental health."
