Our 2025 Living in Australia Key Insights Report shows a drop in national liveability compared with previous years. Based on the insights from nearly 5,000 Australians, the report shares that: While Australians place very high importance on 'feeling safe', their experiences of safety are on the decline - with some areas seeing much sharper drops than others. Improving the provision of 'affordable decent housing' represents the single biggest opportunity to advance quality of life. 'Access to the natural environment' continues to be a strong foundation for wellbeing, with most people rating their local experiences positively. 'High quality health services' remains a central feature, though experiences vary greatly - with metro areas generally better served than many regional and rural communities.
