Help Shape the Shoalhaven Community Wellbeing Plan - Shoalhaven City Council - Media Release

Shoalhaven City Council Media Release

15 April 2021

Shoalhaven City Council is asking the community for their feedback to identify what wellbeing in the Shoalhaven currently looks like and help determine priorities for the development of the Shoalhaven Community Wellbeing Plan. The Plan will guide in the creation of a supportive and inclusive community into the future.

Mayor Amanda Findley encouraged residents to take part in the survey which is open until Friday, 23 April, to help inform the development of the Community Wellbeing Plan.

“The Shoalhaven Community Wellbeing Plan will guide Council in the pursuit of community wellbeing, as well as delivering a framework to evaluate the effectiveness of our investments, programs and assets.

“Wellbeing is not just the absence of disease or illness. It’s a combination of a person's physical, mental, emotional and social health factors.  It includes having good mental health, high life satisfaction, and a sense of meaning or purpose.

“Wellbeing is important to Local Government and the community as it enables residents to fully participate in education, employment, and within their community.” Clr Findley said.

The Shoalhaven Community Wellbeing Plan will be developed after conducting extensive consultation with the community, internal Council staff and relevant stakeholders and organisations within the broader community. This document will be incorporated into Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework.

Council has previously hosted community workshops and has undertaken an initial survey which has indicated broad support for the four themes that underpin the Plan: individual health, connections, supportive environments and housing and employment security.

For further information on the Plan and previous survey results, visit Council’s website and search ‘Community Wellbeing Plan’.

To provide your input into wellbeing in the Shoalhaven, please complete the short online survey by Friday 23 April 2021.
