These holidays, we need your helpLike you, here in Story Factory land we’re all breathing a collective sigh of relief to be coming to the end of a particularly demanding year. Christmas holidays with loved ones are in our sights, school is wrapping up, the cicadas are singing the song of summer...
There are so many obvious reasons 2020 has been challenging, but we wanted to take a minute to talk about something that is less obvious, an issue that runs the risk of going unnoticed in our collective march towards the holidays.
Recently the Sydney Morning Herald reported that NSW students have been hit far worse than expected by online learning during COVID-19. On average, they have fallen three to four months behind in key areas such as literacy and numeracy.
Our partner schools are telling us the kids we work with - those with the biggest obstacles to overcome this year - have fallen even further behind. It is crucial we help them make up this lost ground in 2021.
You can help.
Each donation to our free creative writing programs means another young person will receive our support to start telling their story. From day one, term one next year, they can start to rewrite their future.
Please support them by donating now.
At the end of a long year we want to say thank you from all of us at Story Factory, and our students. |
