September is a landmark month for men’s health, with three major awareness campaigns highlighting issues that affect men across Australia. Prostate Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder that anyone with a prostate is at risk. With more than 26,000 diagnoses each year, it’s vital to know who is most at risk, how to spot the warning signs, and why early detection can save lives. Father's Day in Australia falls on Sunday 7th September and we encourage everyone to get on board with the national Man with a Pram campaign in support of new fathers. Look out for the Fathering of the Year Awards, presented by the Fathering Project and announced on 4th September. Another great way to celebrate Fathers is the Biggest Barbecue Ever fundraiser, in support of Grab Life by the Balls - a great men's mental health charity which organises social catch ups for blokes across Australia. World Suicide Prevention Day is on 10th September and R U OK? Day is on Thursday 11th September. Find out how you can get involved (below), and check out our Know Your Man Facts toolkits on Mateship, Men's Mental Health and the How to Help a Mate Doing it Tough booklet. Best Wishes, Glen Poole, CEO The Australian Men's Health Forum |
